BGMI developer Krafton faces accusations of selling users' data in India
The FIR raises serious concerns, as the complainant asserts that confidential user data was not only leaked but also shared with third parties. The case has been filed under various legal sections, highlighting the gravity of the situation.
Given the previous ban on PUBG in India-centered around data security fears-there's a looming threat that BGMI may face a similar fate. If these allegations hold true, Krafton India may find themselves under scrutiny and potentially facing another ban for their game.
In other news, the prices of iPhones are expected to go up a lot. China makes many of the parts for Apple products, including iPhones. Right now, there is a 20 percent tax on products coming from China to the U.S. Recently, the government added another big tax of 34 percent, which could make iPhones much more expensive. Some reports suggest that if these taxes stay in place, we might see the price of iPhones go over $2,000 in the future.
In response, Krafton India has filed two writ petitions (Nos. 4806 and 5342/2024)
in the Bombay High Court, seeking a stay on the investigation. Represented by senior advocates from the law firm Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co., the company has challenged the allegations and the FIR's procedural validity.
Justices Sarang V. Kotwal and Dr Neela Gokhale, presiding over the case, have merged both petitions and issued notices to the respondents. All interim orders have been extended until the next court date on 15 April 2025.

Case of against BGMI
According to a report first published by TalkEsport, an FIR (First Information Report No. 0474/2024) has been registered at the Akluj Police Station in Maharashtra, accusing Krafton India and four of its senior executives of unlawfully sharing and monetising confidential user data in violation of a 2021 agreement.
As per the complaint, Krafton India is accused of leaking user data to third parties at a rate of Rs 2,000 per subscriber. Given that BGMI has amassed over 100 million downloads on Android alone, with a substantial player base on iOS as well, the implications of this claim are potentially vast.
The FIR, dated Septembe 5,r 2024, was lodged following a court directive under Section 156(3) of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) after earlier complaints allegedly went unaddressed. A hearing in the matter is scheduled before the Bombay High Court on April 15 2025.
I hope bgmi not ban again ?
